Name/Title PHOTOGRAPH; Wreck of the Barque "Fusileer" on Turakina Beach
Brief Description A black and white photograph of the Barque "Fusileer" which wrecked on Turakina Beach. The vessel has two masts and a flag pole, and is seen at a list on the beach with passengers disembarking and and unloading cargo. The photogra is grainy and has been mounted on brown card.
The 404 tonn barque "Fusilier" went ashore between the Turakina and Rangitikei Rivers at midday on the 16th January 1884, but no lives were lost.
