Brief Description |
In the late 19th century a baby's cradle was made in the form of a rowing boat by Mr Kennington, a bridge builder of Whanganui, for his children. Suspended on pulleys running from a sturdy stand, the wooden planked cradle can be rocked. The exterior is varnished and the interior painted a soft green. The boat has a locker in the bow with a sliding lid and a locker in the stern with a hatch top. Even though many babies slept here, it is in excellent condition.
