Name/Title CANE; TURKISH
Brief Description This cane, or walking stick, was made by a Turkish Prisoner of War during World War I. The wooden shaft is carved with two entwined snakes while the five-sided shaft handle is carved with "TURKISH", "PRIS W.", "CAMP", "HILIOPOL" and "SOUVENIR", one word per facet. The tip of the handle is rounded, and both handle and grip are covered with glass seed beads. The golden translucent beads are separated by lines of translucent blue beads with diamond patterns of green, yellow and red beads.
