Brief Description This black and white photograph is of John Henry Pepper, known as Jack, of Wanganui. It is an informal studio portrait photograph of a young man sitting in a wooden chair, looking straight at the camera.

Jack Pepper was born in 1892, the fourth child of Bessie (nee Nicholson) and Henry Pepper, a labourer at Kai Iwi. Jack was brother to Winnie and Lucy.

Jack married Martha Annie Gould in 1915 but records of their children are not available. Jack died in 1964 aged 72 years and Martha died in 1966 aged 76 years.
