Brief Description This black and white photograph is of Winifred Alice Pepper, known as Winnie, of Whanganui. It is a studio portrait of a young woman, seated looking at the camera in a head and body shot. She is wearing a high-necked white blouse, dark skirt and a white belt. A long chain is slung around her neck and tucked into the belt at her waist.

Winifred Alice Pepper was born in 1887, the third child of Bessie (nee Nicholson) and Henry Pepper, a labourer at Kai Iwi. Winnie was sister to Jack (1802.3521) and Lucy (1802.3554). Winnie married Gordon Alexander Walker in 1910 and they had the following children (possibly more):
