MINIATURE, ENAMEL WORK; TABLE & CHAIR
|
Brief Description |
This miniature table and chair are made from worked copper and enamel. The table top is circular with a green enamel top, border and legs of twisted copper wire. The chair has a green enamel seat with a back and legs of twisted wire.
The artist gave the following information about this and other works: Jim Jared said to me "Ngaire, I want you to make me a table and chair for our club showcase". I've never made anything like that, I protested. "I'll make a wooden mould of the chair size for you" he promised. So this is what I came up with.
Most of Ngaire Swinburne's enamel and copper work collection was created for the Wanganui Rock and Mineral Club which started in 1962. The artist started making the works in 1970. Metal was supplied from scrap metal dealers around Wanganui. All designs are the artist's own work.
