Name/Title Moa (Dinornithiformes); unidentified bone
Brief Description Moa expert Trevor Worthy could not identify this bone; it looks like possibly two ribs fused together, and he suggested unknown pathology. Fossil remains often include evidence of fractures or diseases that plagued animals in life and may even have contributed to their death. This bone was collected by Taylor Brown from a tomo or sinkhole on Motukawa Land Co Ltd farm, Moawhango Valley Road near Taihape in December 2000, and donated by landowner Warren Plimmer.
