Brief Description This sepia-toned photograph of Mr Peter Bell's house in St Johns Hill, Whanganui, is of a large two story wooden house with elaborate gables around two bay windows and a verandah which is accessed from the top story. The Bell family is gathered at the front with a horse and cart and a single rider on another horse.

Situated in St Leonards Street, the house was also named St Leonards, with the original entry from Parsons Road.
