Name/Title JACKET, NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION; WILLIAM WEBB
Brief Description This maroon wool sports jacket belonged to William (Billy) Webb of Whanganui, who was an international rowing champion. He was awarded this red coat when he won the National Champion Single Sculls at Whanganui on 19 February in 1903. His was the first ever "Red Coat" presented in New Zealand.

The jacket has beige lining, three maroon fabric-covered buttons, two hip pockets and one breast pocket with the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association badge sewn to it. The badge comprises red embroidery on beige fabric, with the letter, "NZ / ARA" and myrtle boughs beneath. There is an extra buttonhole on the left lapel.
