Brief Description This maroon wool sports cap from the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association belonged to William (Billy) Webb, National and World Champion rower of Whanganui. It was awarded after he won the Champion Double Sculls with Joe Green at Wellington in the 1904-5 season; he retained it in the 1905-6 season at Picton.

The cap is shaped by six sections sewn together. It has a maroon fabric-covered button at top centre and black satin lining. The New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association badge is stitched onto the cap at centre front. The badge comprises red embroidery on beige fabric, with the letters, "NZ /ARA" and fern leaves beneath. It has "CDS" embroidered in gold thread at the centre of the peak, denoting Champion Doubles Sculls. It also has 1904-5 embroidered in gold thread in the left side.
