Name/Title SPOON, SILVER; MOTHER AUBERT FAMILY
Brief Description This large sterling silver serving spoon has an oval finial with ''S. Aubert'' engraved on the back of the bowl. Mother Aubert's brother had sent her a canteen of silver cutlery from France when her parents died.

The donor's father was manager of Dalgety's during the Depression when people walked off their farms. Her father would visit farms on weekends and open up gates so stock could forage. Her mother would go around the neighbourhood and clean empty houses. The donor thinks this is how the spoon was acquired as she received the spoon from her mother's estate.

Her parents, William Ernest Robbie and Elsie Henrietta Robbie, nee Watts, lived in Puna Rua No 3 Line in Wanganui East and later in Victoria Avenue, near Dublin Street, in Whanganui.
