Sepia photograph mounted on card of the Whanganui River flooding lower Victoria Avenue and Taupo Quay in Whanganui. Photograph was taken on 13 February 1891 while the river was experiencing a flood.
A large crowd of people stand at the west end of the Wanganui Town Bridge, some of them wading in floodwater. Other groups of people, mainly men but with a few women present, stand on the road and footpaths above the floodline in Victoria Avenue.
