Brief Description Small black and white photograph of the Whanganui Town Bridge with the Whanganui River in flood. Photograph was taken in 1938 or 1940 flood. Photograph is taken from the town bank of the river just upriver from the bridge, looking across the flooded to the far side and showing how high the waters reach under the bridge.
Written on the back of the photo "This will give you a good idea of where the water was on the town bridge. It was overlapping the warf in spots. This is looking towards Durie Hill".
