Kete muka, woven bag of muka (processed New Zealand flax fibre) with fringe and band of taniko along top edge, width of fringe 40 cm. Taniko band in undyed, pink and brown dyed muka. The pattern is called patiki (flounder). A three-ply plaited band divides the fringe from the open weave body of the kete. There are two handles of two-ply twisted cord in undyed and pink dyed muka.
Owned and used by the donor's mother, Emily Numia Kirk (née Churton) of Pūtiki in the 1920s.
