Kete whakairo, A woven bag of harakeke (New Zealand flax) strips. Dark brown dyed strips used to create kaokao (armpit) zigzag pattern in two rows across body of kete. Two handles of twisted flax strips.
Owned and used by the donor's mother, Emily Numia Kirk (née Churton) of Pūtiki in the 1920s.
