Brief Description |
Putiki Maori Club uniform consisting of a black shoulder strap dress, cloak and head band. The dress is has two front pockets and a red, black and white taniko bodice. A taniko pattern is based on the patikitiki pattern symbolising the flounder. The cloak is made from cotton with black wool tassles and a red and black wool border. The head band is cotton with the same taniko pattern as the bodice.
The uniform was made and worn by the donor's mother, Emily Numia Kirk. Emily joined the club in 1958 and was part of the winning Hui Aroha teams from 1958 - 1960.
