Brief Description A black and white photograph of the wreck of the "Port Bowen" off Castlecliff Beach, Whanganui. The photograph was taken from the sand dunes and looks across the shore towards the vessel, which is wrecked about 100 yards from the shore. A wave is breaking over the bridge of the vessel. The ship had been moved nearer to the beach by a southerly wind early on the morning of July 24th 1939.
