Brief Description |
Two black and white photographs mounted on heavy green paper from an album. The first photograph (a) is of a large wooden building identified as the Victoria Avenue School in Whanganui. The building features a tall steeple with a bell, and the students of the school are gathered on a grassy bank in front of building. A hand-written note below read "Where Alpha (?) and Horace Harding, Grandma Ruth Crawfords brothers were educated". The second photograph (b) shows a view of Wanganui from atop Durie Hill, looking down over the Town Bridge towards Victoria Avenue and the town. The recently completed wharf is on the left of the bridge, and the Rutland Stockade can be seen on the hill to the right. The Red Lion hotel is in the foreground to the right.
