Brief Description A black and white photograph of the last Steam Engine leaving Whanganui, taken at 10.50am on 15 September 1966. The image shows a large locomotive engine on railway tracks amid a stoney yard, with black and white smoke billowing atound the front. A man stands behind the enginge, and another can be seen on the right. The driver of the train was N.F. Kendrick, and the fireman P.P. Ritia.
